Chicken Parmesan Recipe

Our family felt like eating chicken parmesan once, so we went on a long drive and went to an Italian restaurant that we saw in the evening on the weekend, and ordered the chicken parmesan dish that we liked.

When the chicken parmesan was brought to us like that, we wanted to eat it as soon as we saw it on the plate.

We couldn’t just go and grab it from them, so we were very patient until it came to our plate. But before we ate it, we got a big surprise, that they changed the sauce & the toppings a lot, they put more cheese than they should have, like they were dipping it in some kind of cheese.

I thought the chicken parmesan recipe would be difficult, but after it came to my plate, I realized that we can make this at home on a low budget.

So, will we not try it after eating it and coming home? No, so I made it. The ingredients were in the kitchen at home, so it was very easy to make, and we ate it.

All the family members liked this chicken parmesan recipe very much. In addition, since then till now, we have not eaten this chicken parmesan outside. It was so good.

So let’s see how to make this recipe that my family liked. Okay, let’s make this chicken firm recipe together that looks very tasty.

Ingredients for Chicken Parmesan ( Serves 4 )

  • 2 boneless, skinless chicken breasts
  • 1 cup – all-purpose flour
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 cup Italian breadcrumbs
  • ½ cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • 1 tsp dried oregano
  • Salt to taste
  • 1 tsp ground pepper
  • Olive oil (for frying)
  • 2 cups marinara sauce
  • 1 ½ cups shredded mozzarella cheese
  • Fresh parsley & basil leaves

How to Make Chicken Parmesan

Cooking Instructions

Step-1. Prep the Chicken
  • First, prepare the chicken breasts. We need to cut off the extra fat from the 2 large chicken breasts we took and then cut them in half horizontally with a knife, moving up and down.
  • So that now we will get 4 thin cutlets.
  • Now put them in a plastic wrap and pound them with a meat mallet until they are about 1/2 inch thick. This will help us cook evenly and make them juicy.
Step-2. Bread the Chicken

  • Here we are going to make it classic with a flour-egg-breadcrumb setup:
  • Take 3 shallow bowls.
  • In 1st bowl, crack 2 eggs and season with a pinch of salt and pepper, and mix.
  • In 2nd bowl, add 1/4 cup all purpose flour, 1 tsp of salt, 1/2 tsp of crushed pepper, and stir until everything is combined.
  • In 3rd bowl, add 1/2 cup of the shredded Parm, 1 cup of Italian breadcrumbs, finely chopped fresh parsley leaves, and mix well.

Now we are ready for dredging:

  • First, take the prepared piece of chicken and dip it in flour.
  • Then dip it in beaten eggs.
  • Finally, coat it in a breadcrumb-parmesan mixture.
  • Prepare all the chicken pieces in this way.

Step-3. Pan-Fry to Golden Perfection

  • Heat 1 cup (350ml) of olive oil in a skillet over medium-high heat.
  • Then, depending on the size of your pan, fry 2 chicken pieces for about 4 minutes on each side until golden brown.
  • If you feel the pan is getting too hot in the middle, reduce the heat a little.
  • Now, place the well-cooked chicken on a paper towel to absorb any extra oil.

Step-4. Sauce & Cheese Magic

  • Now spread a thin layer of marinara sauce on the bottom of the baking dish.
  • Then place the well-fried chicken cutlets on top and spread the marinara sauce evenly.
  • Then sprinkle the shredded mozzarella cheese generously.

Step-5. Bake It

  • Now place this dish in a preheated oven at 400°F (200°C) for 20 minutes until the cheese is bubbly.
  • Look at that cheese, oh, how yummy it is.

Step-6. Garnish & Serve
  • This is my favorite part – it looks so pretty when you chop fresh parsley & basil leaves and sprinkle them on top of the white, bubbly cheese.
  • Okay, but how do you make it better?
  • I put 1tbsp of marinara sauce on top of the hot buttered spaghetti I made in advance, and when I take the chicken cutlets out of the bowl and see the cheese oozing out, wow, it’s so yummy.
